Linda had managed to quit smoking when she had been pregnant six years previously, but then found she went back to smoking after giving birth. She had seen the service advertised in the local papers, but it was her pregnancy that prompted her to get in touch. During a visit to her midwife, Linda was advised about the dangers to the health of her baby from just a few cigarettes and was given the details of the Smoking & Pregnancy Advisor, who she then contacted. The Smoking & Pregnancy Advisor made arrangements to visit Linda at home and, during the initial visit, discussed the Nicotine Replacement Therapy products available and set a quit date. She then received a further five weeks of one-to-one support. Linda used the inhalator to help her quit smoking and feels that this, alongside the weekly visits, was a great help. "The Nicotine Replacement was a good idea and the one-to-one support was brilliant," said Linda. "Seeing my Carbon Monoxide reading go down from 9 or 10 to 1 was fantastic - I got really excited and it gives you extra will-power," she added. Since giving up smoking, Linda has saved lots of money and has been using it to buy new baby clothes. She's also been going swimming and treating herself to 'naughty' food like pizza!
Linda says she would recommend the service to anyone and advises others to "keep going at things - don't give up."
