Case Study
Don Collins started smoking at the age of 18, and was smoking between 50-60 cigarettes a day when he came to the clinic. As a diabetic, he had been advised to give up for serious health reasons. Don saw the advert for the clinic at his G.P. surgery and called the service free phone number to book an appointment with the clinic.

As a smoker, Don had spent an average of £3000 per year on his habit, and since giving up he has enjoyed numerous holidays with the money he has saved. Don says that he doesn't feel he could have given up without the help of the clinic, or his willpower, and feels much healthier as a non-smoker.

He says "the comradeship of the other candidates attending to give up was so helpful...I couldn't have quit without the support of the group and the team were extremely supportive". Don enjoyed the Carbon Monoxide monitor readings at the clinic and he attended all of the Monthly Support Groups. He has since received his 1-Year abstinence success certificate.

He says that with the help of the clinic, giving up smoking was "much easier than I thought it would be as I never thought I could do it", and is extremely proud that he can now say "I am a non-smoker" as are his family.
