The programme consists of seven weekly sessions, which MUST be attended:
From session 2, carbon monoxide readings are taken at the beginning of each session. Carbon monoxide is formed when things burn and is just one of the 4000 chemicals inhaled when smoking. By taking readings before and after quit day, quitters are able to see the huge and immediate difference to their lungs between smoking and not smoking. On successful completion of the programme, we will write to GPs and successful quitters will need to visit their GP, who will continue prescribing NRT for a minimum further two months. To increase the chances of your long-term success, the whole course of Zyban must be completed and NRT must be used for a minimum of three months. All quitters who remain abstinent at the end of the treatment programme will also be invited to monthly support groups for up to one year.
