Southgate Residents get help from Maria

A new 1:1 drop-in clinic opened at Southgate library on the 26th August 2010 to help smokers kick the habit.

The sessions are being held at the rear of the library from 4 - 7 pm on Thursday evenings. The advisor can discuss your smoking habits and offer advice, guidance and prescriptions to help smokers through the difficult quitting period.

So far five people have signed up for support with Maria Demetriou, our advisor, and she is confident that they will all do very well in their quit attempts. Maria said that the clinic "is an evening clinic so it's at a busy time and is very accessible as there is an underground station (Southgate) and loads of buses that come past the library."

Maria also speaks Greek Cypriot, which adds an extra dimension to the support she offers.

Any new smokers wishing to see Maria need to go to reception at the library while the clinic is on and they will direct you to her. Alternatively you can call the Stop Smoking Service on 0800 652 8405 for more information.
